You walkthrough the door marked by the symbol of Water and instantly you are bombardedby a thick cloud of steam. It is quitehot in here, a humid kind of heat that you feel deep in your lungs. It takes a few moments for you to adjust andget your bearings but once you do it becomes apparent that the walls arecovered in smooth aquamarine. The lovelystone drips with moisture and twinkles in the cool light, a light that isproduced by glowing crystals. At thevery center of the room is a large round pool of water. You know it is hot by the steam rising offthe water’s still surface. You walkforward to get a better look at your surroundings only to see tall rectangularbasin of water with a thick ledge all the way around. Empty bowls sit atop it. Curiously you reach out to touch thebeautiful stone wall when a voice catches you off guard.

“May the poolof Gaia’s love greet you well this morning.” Her voice is soft and kind. “My name is Ara and I will be here to helpguide your journey. Maya will be alongshortly.”

Momentslater a young woman, barely an adult, quietly comes in through a door on theother side of the room. She seems a bitshy and doesn’t say much but the smile on her face tells you she is glad to behere. Ara isn’t advanced in years butcertainly has an air of confidence that come with experience. Both women are dressed in light simple robes,nothing flashy just practical.

“We arehumbled by your determination, be guided well,” Maya whispers.

“Shall webegin?” Ara smiles.

Withoutwarning these two strangers begin to remove your clothing. They strip away everything until you are leftbare and exposed. Maya leaves shortlyonly to come back with a bucket of various things. The humidity in the room seems to be risingand you struggle to breathe normally. Youpick up a lovely but powerful scent in the steam and can’t help but wonder whatherbs have been included in this ceremony. Their silence deters you from speaking andyou wish not to offend the sanctity of this ritual.

“Beforeyou can go forth and glimpse the sacred we must first wash away the old, purifyany touch of the tainted, so there is space for the new,” Ara explains. “The bath will help pull out any impurities.”

Mayaleads you to the water and waits for you to step in. The pool is extremely hot so it takes you a fewmoments to get all the way to the underwater ledge where you are to sit. You quickly become aware that there must beherbs in the water because a sharp tingling nips at your skin. Ara and Maya leave you to soak, and the timethat they are away feels like an eternity. Your skin is a deep red and you are almost sure it will be burned off…but then after a while you begin to feel relief. The water is still just as hot but theprickly sting of the herbs slowly dissipates. Just as soon as the pain fades away your guides return.

“Come,let’s get you cleaned up,” Ara holds out her hand.

Althougheager to get out of the bath what comes next is more excruciating than the soak. Maya applies a special scrub mixture to yourskin that is made up of sea salt, oil, and cleansing herbs. Any and all scrapes you’ve acquired sting toan almost unbearable degree. Thisprocess is followed up with an extremely rough scrubbing. Each scrape from the dry sponge feels as ifit is taking your skin with it. When itis all over Ara and Maya dip the bowls into the tall water basin and then rinseyou head to toe. Next your hair, face,and nails are thoroughly cleaned. Everything hurts. Once all isdone you are doused with a final rinse, but this time the water is exceedinglycold. The drastic change of temperaturecauses you to lose your breath for a minute.

Finallyyou are asked to sit on a flat stone in the corner of the room where the lightis dim. Ara asks you to close your eyesand breathe deep. The hot air moves inand out of your lungs more easily now but the temperature of the room is on therise. “Your soul is on a journey,” Araspeaks in a loud whisper, “Will your inner self to let go and move into therealm of the unseen. Water helps withthis transition; it assists in smoothing the passage that leads to the otherside. This is a safe space; you are freeto be. Step out of your body, and inviteyour guardians to be present. When youare ready, open your eyes and glimpse your sacred Spirit Animal.”

Your eyes open to a room so thick with steam it is like being surrounded by fog. A thick humid cloud of moisture engulfs you. Patterns begin to emerge in the haze and a shape begins to form. Ara waits patiently for you to identify your Spirit Animal. “What do you see?”

Ellie hasn’t spoken to her parents in a long time, and she thinks it’s high time she check on them. With you in tow, of course.

Follow Up with Ellie

Ellie was understandably dismayed to find that her parents had declared her dead and were living off her life insurance money.

She probably needs to talk… somewhere away from her folks

Find the Insurance Agency Office

If anyone’s going to make money off of Ellie’s alleged death, Ellie figures it should be her.

Find the Greater Halcyon Insurance Group in Byzantium to set things straight.

Set Up a Dummy Beneficiary Account for Ellie

Visit the Greater Halcyon Insurance Group in Fallbrook and set up a dummy beneficiary account for Ellie.

The Insurance Agent mentioned a terminal in the back room that stores all their policy data.

Talk to Ellie

All of Ellie’s future insurance payouts will now be funneled into her dummy account. Time to wrap things up with her.

If you’ve completed Worst Contact and recruited Ellie this quest will trigger if you speak to her on the Unreliable once you travel to Byzantium. Head to the Fenhill Estate and speak with Ellie’s parents. You’ll learn that they collected on her life insurance policy by concocting an insane story and now they want her gone, or they’ll lose their wealth. This will net you 12,240 XP.

Speak to Ellie outside the Estate, and she’ll hatch a plan to steal the money. Agree to help her and you’ll gain another 12,240 XP.

Next you’ll need to examine the mailbox outside Greater Halcyon Insurance Group, next to the two guards in Prosperity Plaza. It’s right across from Auntie Cleo’s Salon Club, which is closed. Once you do the quest will update and you’ll be instructed to head to Fallbrook on Monarch and setup a dummy account.

Speak to the Insurance Agent there and change the beneficiary on Marilyn Fenhill’s life insurance policy. She will tell you cannot do it, but will tell you that you can alter the beneficiary on the terminal in the backroom. Or you can Bribe her for 3800 Bits to do it, or Intimidate (30) her to do it.

You can Lockpick the back room if you have (45) Lockpick or you can Pickpocket the key from the Insurance Agent. If you Pickpocketed the Insurance Agent you can use the key on the terminal as well. Changing Ellie to the beneficiary will net you 12,400 XP.

Speak to Ellie afterwards and you’ll gain 1,313 Bit Cartridges and a Framed Insurance Check. as well as 53000 XP. This concludes Ellie’s quest line.
